Manne Laukkanen, PhD – see more in the full bio at LinkedIn
I started geeking around with science, astronomy and personal computers in my early teens in the 80’s and have been hooked ever since.
My interest in finding facts instead of hearsay took me to study statistics of human behaviour and computer science, first to University of Helsinki in the 90:s, then, Åbo Akademi, where I did my PhD on geographical profiling, using multivariate statistics (strangely labeled “machine learning” in this day and age) , kernel density estimation and spatial probability surface calculations. I became PhD while IT-consulting for a wide range of global/international clients from forestry to telco to software giants, from consumer to customer to company and criminal profiling. I have designed and realized data asset utilization solutions on-site and in clouds for industry giants for soon two decades, see LinkedIn for details.
Due to my interest in pragmatic benefits from data, I gravitated towards creating implementations, ranging from building data assets, data engineering, BI, data science, to master data and data quality in the cloud; without data quality and data approachability, you can not create value with data.
I have a strong and long experience in technical project manager roles, programming and general IT consulting on a range of stacks, (e.g. all major RDBMS:s, AWS and Azure cloud stacks) and data artistry (e.g. PowerBI or Python) with hands in clouds for years, typically as also a developing team member of the team I manage. I like clean code that reads like an entertaining story.
In my (limited) free time, I have founded/co-founded several profitable IT companies, still play music on a professional performance level (e.g. Finnish National Opera) and write.
